Beauceron.

The deep chest makes me think sighthound but not any sight hound I have seen before.

I'll guess lurcher, because there is no standard.

It is a Beauceron ... GoLightly got it right off the bat.

I recently had the opportunity to meet a Beauceron breeder who had one of her bitches with her at a herding clinic. I learned some interesting things about these dogs!

For example, it is standard in most countries to dock the ears of the Beauceron but in France it is illegal to dock any ears so if a breeder wants to take their dog to any international standings (which this one did), they can't dock ... also, it is standard to have a "double dewclaw" on both back legs. They are not removed if the dog is ever to show or breed (they lose points in a show ring when they are missing).

Interesting, eh?

I think he was of Beauceron breed of Herding Group. As they were having such an strong resemblance and depends on exactly the fairly large, threatening appearance.
