Featured Rescue - Chester the Labrador Retriever

Today's featured rescue is a Labrador Retriever mix, but I really like the look of the guy so had to post him. Chester is estimated to be 2 years old. He does require some obedience training per the ad ... don't they all??

If you're looking for a Labrador Retriever, I encourage you to go visit your local shelter or rescue and adopt one. Don't buy from pet stores and don't buy from irresponsible, backyard breeders (this includes the neighbour down the road who thought they could make a few quick bucks). There are many purebred Labradors at the shelters looking for homes (just counting those listed on Petfinder, there are in fact 20, 215) ... some are even tattooed and registered; And no, not all breeders take their unwanted dogs back. Don't fool yourself.

What a cute guy. I work next door to a place that employs 400+ blind people, so there are seeing eye dogs around all the time. You could put Chester in a lineup of those guys, and I wouldn't be able to pick him out. But what a contrast in their lives. Spay/neuter, dammit! I hope Chester gets his chance to be a goofy, happy, and loved pet.

don't know how many years the Lab has been "top dog" on the popularity list. Unfortunately, that also makes him one of the top dogs in the shelters. Add to that the dominant black coats and that makes a lot of labs that won't find homes. I really really really don't understand how people can live with themselves...

Chester is beautiful!

Good luck, buddy!

Chester is cute. I think adopting a dog is a very nice way to show our gratitude for the joy these amazing animals can give us. I hope Chester will find his new home as he deserves it. Good luck for him!
