Fun Stuff - A Rose by Any Other Name ...

Here's a fun challenge for you. It is designed to make you think about your dog and his/her personality traits. It is not supposed to be easy - it is supposed to make you think.

If there was a song or a set of lyrics in a song that best describes your dog, what would it be?

For my Australian Cattle Dog, her set of lyrics are the chorus from "I'm So Excited" by Pointer Sisters. She was awarded this because whenever she is super excited and is trying hard to contain herself (like at meal-times), she will sit, her whole body will vibrate and she will stomp her front feet as fast as she can while holding her breath. Most times she gives up trying to contain the excitement and goes all wild-child on me. (She will calm down as she gets older but for now we enjoy the excitement of puppy-hood and are teaching her appropriate vs inappropriate times to "let go".) For those not familiar with them, here are the lyrics:

I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control
And I think I like it.

I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you.

For our hound/shepherd cross:

Ain't nothin' gonna to break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh-no
I got to keep on movin'
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin'

He goes every where like he's on a mission. Luckily he remembers that his humans need him too. He does recall, he just doesn't stop moving for long unless you ask him.

For my Irish Wolfhound:

"I just want to be beside you everywhere
As long as were together, honey, I don't care
Cause you've started something
Oh, can't you see?
That ever since we met
You've had a hold on me
No matter what you do
I only want to be with you
I said no matter, no matter what you do
I only want to be with you"

He will follow me around the house, no matter how many times he has to get up. When I sit down to watch TV he will lie down on my feet. He will curl his body around me in a hug sometimes as a greeting. Every morning when I leave for work he is so mournful.

I'll say that this is our current golden mix:

Young forever
In my dreams I can never die
Somebody stop the time wheel
Freeze the night sky
So I can remodel history
Before I wake up the world

Strong together
In our dreams we can never cry
We wanna slow the time wheel
Seize the day sky

You can remove my fame
Talk bad of my name
But you can't take my spirit
Can't kill the spirit... no

Says it all: she is my shadow (my parents signed the adoption papers, but when she stepped out of the car, she saw me and laid her heart at my feet), never stops going and insists that she's never stepped outside when she should by all rights be all-out exhausted from running so much. And of course we call her Airhead and Dumb Blonde as little pet names, but she knows she's a pretty thing with a brain somewhere in there...she just keeps on smiling. She's such a spunk that the day she probably thinks to acknowledge any old age will be her last day here on this earth (she's 2 now so hopefully it'll be a while!).

The Banjo duet, from the Movie Deliverance, always plays in my head when my two girls are doing their "let's stalk each other" routine..
They start slow, and then build to a crescendo of legs and ears flying in various directions and speeds. It's wordless though...
Gunslinger themes, too, for the two of them when they play "who's stuffie is THIS??"

Flip makes me think of the "Take me to the River" song, done by the Talking Heads..
Very slinky...

Right now, they are playing a Lullaby.
Sleeping sooo peacefully after their romps.

Sometimes, I think I'm singing to Flip!

"Hello. Is there anybody IN there. Just nod if you can hear me.."

That's Flip, when she's in a rabbit hole.
Deaf as a post to my calls.

My old RedDog was "Cinnamon Girl", by Neil Young.

"I wanna live with a cinnamon girl, I can be happy, the rest of my life, with a cinnamon girl". RedDog was a rock 'n roller.

I think the girls are more C/W:)

Great question, DDF!

Stumpy's, because she is so distrustful of strangers, would be the Doors' "People are Srtrange"

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange

I happen to agree with her, all to frequently, these days
