Sorry for not posting yesterday, but I got a bit busy sorting things out with our new foster and spent most of my energy trying not to throttle the owners. (Pictures to come)
Our latest foster is a 10 month old Border Collie (we took the summer off and are now addressing the ever present waiting list ... unfortunately, this guy got bumped to the top). This particular guy came into a vet clinic for a Euthanasia appointment ... great, eh? 10 months old and the only people you've ever known have already given up on you. We haven't got much details yet but the reason why they are getting rid of him is because he is too active.
"TOO ACTIVE"? You've got to be kidding me.
*HEADDESK, HEADDESK, HEADDESK*
What did you expect out of a Border Collie?? Why did you get a high energy dog if you didn't want to have a high energy dog?! Argh! How dumb can you be??
I have said it once and will say it again ... if you don't research the breed, you will be disappointed. If you don't know what you are getting into, then figure it out!
Some days I just want to shake people! Sure, that poopsie poo is ever so cute at 8 weeks old, but PLEASE spend some time learning about the breed before you bring them home! Good grief.
This pup's entire world is crubling around him and all these people care about is whether they will be reimbursed for his costs because he is purebred.

Somebody should shake these people, its not the dog's fault that they didn't take the time to know more about the breed or even the pup itself! I wonder if those people even spent 5 minutes with that dog before they took him home, because if they did they would have known he had a lot of energy. Sorry this kinda stuff really makes me angry, because these day all you have to do is look for info about the breed on the computer, which I might add would only take about 5 minutes.
It's very hard not to become very jaded in rescue. I could tell some stories - but it's just depressing. Great to hear you have a foster pup though. :) I took good pictures of my 7 foster dachshunds yesterday (okay, so 2 are chi-weenies) so hopefully someone will fall in love soon!
Oh yeah, and what about the BREEDER that sold these people a BC without giving them a clue as to what to expect. I guess it's too much to ask for breeders to take back their dogs when the new owner can't handle them. :(
argggghhhhh.
I hate people who don't think ahead.
All puppies are cute.
ALL PUPPIES ARE ACTIVE!!!!!!!
ALL PUPPIES NEED LOTS AND LOTS OF
TIME!!!!
EXERCISE, TRAINING, gahhhh.
Sorry, didn't mean to yell.
Euthed at 10months for being too active???
fciking people.
My next door neighbours have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, "Stubby". He's fat already, he gets multiple TimBits every day. He's not even a year old.
Oh, well, that'll keep him inactive.
grrrrrrrrr.
Oh man. This is just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I really hate people. Do they all have their heads shoved up their butts. GRRRRR! To want to put him to sleep! Jeez!
It's all on the breeders, in my opinion. A responsible breeder screens homes and has a return clause in a contract AND makes sure the prospective buyers understand the breeds needs and characteristics.
Poor baby! Some people are so stupid :(
(Seriously, I saw a corgi turned into a shelter a few weeks ago because he was "chasing livestock" DUH! Corgis are herders, hello?)
I can't wait to see photos!
How sad and the poor pup suffers! We hope they smarten up and get a stuffed dog instead of one who's living and breathing!
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
