News Reel - Rambo's Update

Here's another twist in the Rambo and Brittany saga. For those of you who don't know the story behind this, check out my earlier posts (part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4) that explain the details.

The latest news article is from May 20, 2010 (sorry - I didn't see it until today). Reading the headline I'm sure you will see why I have decided to blog about it:

My first thought was ... WTF?! So here are some key points to make note of ...

Rambo, a dog wrongfully impounded by the City of Brampton for more than three months, was returned home with two broken ribs.

An expert has determined the injury is healing, and happened at least two to four weeks before the dog was released by the city. Rambo was impounded for 14 weeks.

Rambo was in a cage alone, away from all other animals, and did not get out for exercise as much as his sister, Brittany, the entire time he was in the city animal shelter, according to reports from the city. There was no physical activity between him and any other dogs, and, kept in a cage all night and much of the day, his movement was limited, according to the family.

The Gaspars are speculating that someone at the shelter hit or poked Rambo, possibly with a stick, because Rambo now, inexplicably, seems frightened of the family’s broom.

There is MUCH more in the article itself if you wish to go read it, but those are the key points that I could see. Now that is one hell of a situation. The city was so convinced that they were in the right, they had no doubt that the dogs would stay with them until euthanasia. I'm sure they never thought the dog would be returned or that the broken ribs would be seen. Most owners won't fight the city so most of the dogs accused of being illegal "pit bulls" are euthanized.

Makes you wonder if someone took their frustrations out on the dogs, doesn't it? This makes me even more angry than the seizure itself! I mean, I know that the city workers and politicians are responsible for keeping the general public safe (and let's face it, there are some idiotic people out there who do stupid things). That's their jobs - I get that. That doesn't mean that the politicians themselves and Brampton Animal Services are idiots for doing it the way they did, but sometimes people are too bull-headed to accept that they might be wrong.

Maybe they thought (at the very beginning) they were doing the right thing (I feel I must give them the benefit of the doubt). HOWEVER this is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!

How did Rambo's ribs get broken?? Why is the city covering up this incident?? I'm sure they can't get any more bad PR than they have already received at this point!!

I would love to rant more but the words coming out of my head aren't really understandable. Mostly they are sentences that sound like this "absolute moronic idiots ... sonofabitch ... animal cruelty ... lose their jobs for this ... wtf were they thinking ... if I get my hands on those asshats ... " which of course when you string them together don't make much sense.

I will state for the record that I believe that the person running Brampton Animal Services/Control should be euthanized and someone else should run the contract.

AC probably didn't even notice the dog's ribs or that he was in pain. I'm sure Rambo was pretty traumatized so any further display of trauma probably were not even questioned.

I can't say anything that doesn't need to be censored. :(
