Dog Cost Calculator

This is an interesting thing ... a Dog Cost Calculator. Give it a go!

Personally, I think everyone and anyone venturing into the world of dog ownership should use a calculator and figure out how much that "Doggie in the Window" really does cost!

Hmmm... mine came out to be not bad at all compared to what I was expecting. Of course, there's no place for putting in trial entry fees and travel costs, which would probably change my total by at least a factor of 10...

Oh, I won't even do it.

Their cost is part of my "must have" expenses.

The girls are my necessity.

Mind you, I have cut back on their stuffy expenses. And we are using FrisBees until they are pretty much particalized.
The poor, poor creatures;)

I make the adjustments for my animals, my dog was sick when we got her,so I know it cost a lot to have a pet.

Yep, expenses add up, especially if you factor in vet expenses. But if you love your dog or dogs, you just pay up and hope for the best.

Dogs don't have to be expensive, but I agree, those who think that they're just a bowl of food and a walk per day are in for a shock. I used to live up in a rural and depressed area, and while there wasn't much money and the dogs didn't live like they do here in the city, they were happy, had daily food and water, human interaction, and got vet care when needed, in spite of the "We really didn't have the $$ for this but he needed it" complaints. It wasn't exactly the market for a grain-free or homemade diet, old-school training was still alive (I mean serious pre-Yank & Crank stuff with the bigger breeds), and anything with working reproductive organs was "breeding quality," but the dogs I met were generally happy and cared for, if not slightly misbehaved.

(Please note that this applies to indoor/outdoor dogs, not 100% outdoor-only dogs! I worked with the local dog warden at times and to hear about the conditions in which these dogs were kept, as well as caring for those dogs that ended up at the pound...I just hate people who do that and dare call their dog a 'pet'!)

Holy Hell! I know my babies are worth it!

I knew the yearly cost but never thought of a lifetime cost.

You are soooo right. Mom says I need a job with all my activities and everyday expenses. It's a good thing I don't have any medical problems... so expensive.

Now I did tell her I work for food but she says that's not what she meant.
