The dog is a domesticated subspecies of the gray wolf, a mammal of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora.

Just like the definition says....

It just so happens that this particular animal is one that humans have taken a liking too :)

....Oh yeah...and dogs have taken a liking to us too :)

A dog is a child in a fur coat, no matter what our breeder told us. Ad dog is our very best friend, no matter what! A dog is LOVE! Mom told us to say this!

A dog is a canine with a massive varieties of form, bred for untold centuries by humans for different looks, different skills and different tasks.
A dog is an animal who is opportunistic, but always looking for something fun or interesting to share with others.
My service dog is a dog with a job and a sense of humor, and one of the greatest animals on earth- but he's still just a dog. He can't speak, often thinks I'm a crazy two-legger, and thinks his food bowl is empty far more than it should be. As much as I love him (and hope he loves me) we'll never be able to communicate as equals, so I have to assume I know best, and do what I think is right for him.
